Tiny Trotters
Parent & Me Riding Program (Ages 2–5)
Our Tiny Trotters program is designed for toddlers and young riders who are not yet ready to ride independently. This fun and supportive introduction to horses allows children to learn basic horsemanship and riding skills while a parent or guardian participates alongside them every step of the way.
Program Structure
- Ages: 2–5 years old
- Maximum of 3 riders per group
- Parent or guardian participation required for the entire session
- Sessions are designed to be fun, engaging, and age-appropriate
How It Works
During each lesson, the instructor will guide the group and give instructions directly to the young riders. Parents or guardians will assist their child in understanding and completing each activity. Parents will be responsible for safely hand-walking the horse or pony in the arena while their child rides and helping their child follow the instructor’s directions.
What Children Will Learn
- Basic horse and pony safety
- How to approach and greet a horse
- Simple grooming basics
- Basic riding position and balance
- Listening to instructions and following directions
- Fun riding activities and games designed for young riders
Parent Involvement
Parents are an essential part of this program. By participating in the lesson, parents help their child build confidence while also learning basic horse handling skills themselves. This shared experience allows both the child and parent to enjoy the horses together while creating a safe and encouraging learning environment.
Our Goal
The goal of the Tiny Trotters program is to create a positive first experience with horses. Through hands-on participation, children build confidence, coordination, and comfort around horses while parents gain a better understanding of the learning process.
Most importantly, this program is designed to be fun, interactive, and memorable for both children and their parents as they begin their journey with horses together.
